Mary Brooke Casad is a member of First United Methodist Church, Sulphur Springs, and an active United Methodist layperson having served on the committee that produced The United Methodist Hymnal (1989). She was elected to serve as a delegate to the 1992-2012 United Methodist General and Jurisdictional Conferences and elected lay leader of the North Texas delegation to the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Conferences. She attended the 2001 and 2006 World Methodist Conferences.
Currently she serves as Chair of the Trustees of the Foundation for Evangelism and a member of the Texas Methodist Foundation Board of Directors. She is a former board member of UMR Communications (Chair 2002-2005) and served as a member of the UMC Connectional Table from 2005-2007.
She was Director of Connectional Ministries for the United Methodist Church in the Dallas area from 1997-2007, the first woman and layperson named to this position. She was the first full-time Executive Secretary of the Connectional Table of The United Methodist Church from 2007-2012.
Her husband, Dr. Victor E. Casad, is a United Methodist clergyman and District Superintendent of the East District, North Texas Conference. The Casads reside in Sulphur Springs, Texas. They have two sons, a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.
