North Central District Lay Speakers

Hello NC Layspeakers!

With gorgeous spring like weather we have been having, we are all feeling the urge to begin planting new gardens and flowers to refresh the results of the winter and last summer’s drought. I myself have been mowing down weeds so that my grass has a chance to grow.

This activity is sort of like the Lent season in the church. Lent is the time in the church that we renew and strengthen our faith, remembering the sacrifice of our Lord, searching within ourselves and our beliefs, and educating ourselves on the meaning of being a Christian. With this renewed strength, we can then go out to be the disciples we are called to be in our world.

This is a very busy time in our churches, and in Lay Speaking Ministries. Our Spring Training is March 24 & 31st featuring the “Adult Basic” course, “Lay Pastoral Care Giving” and “Teach Adults.” The classes are at Vista Ridge UMC in Lewisville. Bring your own book and come join with us. The Quarterly Meeting was well attended and minutes will be sent out ASAP (when Susan has a chance to finish them) to the district for your information. Our next Quarterly Meeting is May 19 at Button UMC in Little Elm. Please mark your calendars. May the Lord bless you with a ministry to match your gifts and passions, and allow you to be his hands in service for others.
