The North Texas Conference delegation to the General and Jurisdictional Conferences will host a celebration for the entire conference from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at First UMC Carrollton.

The event will celebrate the election of Bishop Gary Mueller at the Jurisdictional Conference in July and will also celebrate the elections of Bishop Scott Jones, now in Kansas, in 2004 and Bishop Jim Dorff, now in San Antonio, in 2008. Bishop Dorff and his wife, Barbara, will attend the celebration. Bishop Jones will attend via video feed.
The celebration honors the work of the North Texas Conference, which has had a bishop elected in each of the last three quadrenniums. That accomplishment is an indication of the respect the conference has throughout the denomination and the quality of those in ministry in North Texas.
