In Winnsboro, Brother Carl Sterling quickly put together the Tinney Chapel Troubadours after he took over as pastor this summer. July 22 marked the debut of the praise band, consisting of Rev. Boyd on his Gibson baritone ukulele; Kevin Tinney, also a noted songwriter and vocalist, on acoustic guitar; and Roger Schneider on acoustic guitar. They’ve become regulars at Sunday services at the “quintessential country church,” and the pastor made it clear that he has plans for gigs at nursing homes and special events. Kevin Tinney, by the way, is the great-great-grandson of Ambrose Tinney, who donated the land for the church in 1900.
