In Winnsboro, Brother Carl Sterling quickly put together
the Tinney Chapel Troubadours after he took over as
pastor this summer. July 22 marked the debut of the
praise band, consisting of Rev. Sterling on his massive
Esteban guitar; George Jordan, a veteran gospel
songwriter and vocalist, on his Ventura guitar; Joe Dan

a noted songwriter and vocalist, on acoustic guitar; and
Roger Schneider on acoustic guitar. They’ve become
regulars at Sunday services at the “quintessential
country church,” and the pastor made it clear that he
has plans for gigs at nursing homes and special events.
Kevin Tinney, by the way, is the great-great-grandson of
Ambrose Tinney, who donated the land for the church in
1900.
