2013 Studies
Learning Together for the Transformation of the World
Be one of 20,000 people in the US to attend Mission u this summer to increase your understanding of the mission of the church in a current world context!
Spiritual Growth Study
The Call: Living Sacramentally, Walking Justly
A “how-to-manual” for anyone interested in deepening their own spirituality and engagement in mission. The study explores spiritual personhood which is inseparable from engagement in social action and being in community. The study is an invitation to being open to God's call and being perceptive to God's break-through moments in our midst here and in the world.
Study Leaders: Rev. Jo Biggerstaff, Rev. April Bristow, Rev. Cynthia Kepler-Karrer, Rev. Diana Masters, Rev. Jackye Waiters-Lee, Rev. Maribel Vazquez (Spanish class)
Geographic Study
The Roma of Europe
The Roma are often called “gypsies” and are the single largest minority group in Europe. This study will introduce us to the Roma, with an emphasis on Eastern Europe. It will be an eye-opening journey that will, hopefully, offer a greater understanding of the Roma and opportunities for response and advocacy.
Study Leaders: Ms. Linda Mooter, Rev. Preston Weaver
General Issue Study
Poverty
Poverty is a human rights issue with grave impact on women and children. This mission study is designed to help participants recognize and claim for themselves the connections between Scripture, church tradition, compassion for the poor, social outreach, and social justice. You’ll deepen your understanding of the realities of poverty and learn about advocacy for the poor.
Study Leaders: Ms. Mae Alexander, Rev. Cynthia Salinas- Dooley (Spanish class)
Study Leader: Ms. Marci Moore
Children’s Study
Leaving Home • Finding Home
Children will understand the many and often complex reasons people move from one place to another, broaden their understanding of the biblical narrative as migration story, and develop an appreciation for the courage it takes to make a new place home. Students will be encouraged to know and understand who their neighbors are, appreciate the diversity in their communities, and be tolerant and accepting of neighbors who are of a different race, religion or culture.
Study Leader: Ms. Vicki Buleron

Pastors and Leaders!
Our empowering and exciting 2013 Annual Conference has us ready to transform our communities this summer. Whether your attendance slows down or picks up during the summer, the NTC Communication’s Team has a vehicle to help broadcast your summer family events to the community all summer long. It is entitled Summer of Family Fun.
Last summer we introduced the Bishop's Family Fun Day. It was a summer event developed to bring families together from all across the conference to meet the Bishop at a family friendly location. The event was a huge success. We want to repeat that success and reach even more people. This campaign is a nontraditional approach to reaching the mission field year round.
We have created a website for you to input your events, and we will help you promote them. We have secured advertising and built social media pages (Facebook, Pinterest and others) that we will use to deliver event information to North Texans. Our effort should not be your sole form of advertising, but consider it some additional help.
Best of all, it's FREE!
To enter your church events, email us at the link below to receive instructions for inputting your event information. Our goal is to create a Conference-wide calendar of events that individuals and families in your area can attend.
Who is the target?
Families, women, men, singles, elementary age children, teens, young couple w/ and w/o kids, and seniors
How long will it run?
June - August, and in September we will host a Conference-wide family event
