East District History

Woodland UMC

While the East District was formed out of the Conference Strategic Plan of 2010, the history of churches in the district dates back over 160 years. During this lengthy history district lines have been drawn and redrawn, the district has been named and renamed, and district superintendents have come and gone. Most recently, from 1966 - 2010, the district was called the Paris Sulphur Springs District. Within the last ten years the district has been served by District Superintentendents Paul Gould, Keith Boone, Pat Beghtel-Mahle, and Derrick Wright.
