East District Making A Difference!
Churches in the East District have hosted three concerts for Imagine No Malaria, raising over $25,000 for that cause.
The East District Emergency Response Team ministered in Bastrop after the fires of 2011.
- The population of the East District mission field has grown 9% since 2000.
- A church of the East District is the distribution hub for the Northeast Texas Food Bank in our multi-county area.
- The East District has two campus ministries – one at TAMU-Commerce and one at Paris Junior College.
- The East District has 96 local and certified lay speakers.
- A church of the East District provides a 'high church' worship opportunity for a former Episcopalian congregation.
- The East District has paid 100% of its Apportionments for the last 16 years.
- The East District is home to one of the new start up projects for the Center for New Church Development in 2012.
- The East District is home to one of two Cooperative Parishes in the Conference.
- The East District has an annual Laity Celebration attended by several hundred which highlights the ministry of the laity.
- The East has Camp Pat Mayes within our district, allowing churches and groups to enjoy the beauty of nature within reasonable driving distance.
