The Lovers Lane UMC Foundation will present Missouri Bishop Robert Schnase as the featured speaker
for the Owen Lenten Lecture series, April 7-9.
Bishop Schnase has gained acclaim for his work in revitalizing churches, particularly through his emphasis on fruitful, growing congregations as the author of the best-selling “Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations.”
A native of South Texas, Bishop Schnase is a graduate of Perkins School of Theology, SMU, and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Texas with a B.A. in Psychology. He is the leader of nearly 900 congregations numbering 175,000 members across Missouri.
The lectures will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, followed by a light luncheon in Asbury Hall.
Bishop Schnase and his English teacher wife, Esther, are parents of two sons, Karl and Paul. He is an avid runner who has completed several marathons. He also enjoys canoeing, kayaking, bird watching, studying Spanish and traveling in Latin America.
The Owen Lectures, established in 1985, are endowed through the generosity of Arch and Babs Owen. The mission of the lectures is to provide a time of hope and renewal for all who attend. The Owens have been faithful and active members of Lovers lane since 1950. He was the first president of the Lovers Lane Foundation.
