Hispanic summer program
The Hispanic Summer Program is coming to the SMU campus and Perkins School of Theology June 13-26, with some 100 students and faculty, most of them Hispanic, participating.
The program was created 21 years ago at the initiative of Dr. Justo González and several Latina/o colleagues in order to provide a community of learning, prayer, and sharing centered around the traditions, conversations, values, and concerns of U.S. Hispanic/Latina/o congregations and communities.
Since 1989, more than 1,000 graduate students, mostly Latina/o seminarians from across the nation, have enrolled in at least one three-credit graduate summer course at the Hispanic Summer Program with instruction offered by more than 100 U.S. Hispanic faculty.
The Hispanic Summer Program is the only fully endowed program in the U.S. offering accredited theological education from a Hispanic perspective.
