Chinn's Chapel UMC challenge

7/6/2007

Members of Chinn's Chapel UMC, Lewisville, rose to the "Preacher's Kid" challenge
benefitting children of UM pastors in Cameroon.

The small congregation raised $1,000 during Lent by saving money they would have spent on special treats or personal pursuits. Now, they challenge other churches to take up the same cause. The "Preacher's Kid" Campaign was established by GBGM missionary Leah Magruder with the goal of sending 100 Cameroon pastors' children to school at the cost of $100 per child, for books, uniforms and tuition.

Cameroon pastors’ salaries are low and often families must choose which child will get an education. On Easter Sunday the congregation presented the check to Rev. Joe Zinser, who was then serving as their pastor. Their $1000 gift will send ten percent of the pastors' children to school.
