On recommendation of the Conference Board of Trustees, the 2010 session voted to close only one church—Nelta UMC in the former Paris-Sulphur Springs District. Only a small number of members remained, the report said, and they could not continue to support the church. Proceeds from sale of the property will be placed with the NTC Creating Congregations Team for new or existing ministries.
