Casa View UMC electronics recycling success

7/6/2007

Alternative Resources Corporation employees load part of the Casa View UMC recycling collections.

More than 3,000 pounds of outdated electronic devices were saved from the Dallas landfill on June 23 when Casa View UMC volunteers arranged a community collection site on the church parking lot. Members distributed flyers about the event to area churches and businesses in advance, and then reported to receive and load the donations. Alternative Resources Corporation, which disassembles computer and office equipment, rechargeable batteries, cell phones and other electronics for salvage and safely disposes of hazardous waste, sent the large collection truck, at right, to the site. Project volunteers included: Kathy Hall, Glenn Samford, Kirsten and Glenn LaBauve, Marty and Dave Brownlie, Karen Eaker, Anice Greiner, Bob Cooper and the pastor Rev. Dan Dalton.
