Mission Education Day
6/24/2011
North Texas United Methodists spread out all over the conference for projects and classes during the last day of Annual Conference.

More than 100 North Texas United Methodists spread out across the metroplex as a part of Mission Education Day, sponsored by the Center for Missional Outreach. Some took part in classes at St. Andrew UMC in Plano on the environment and immigration. Others built a wheelchair ramp in Grand Prairie, worked at one of two community gardens or spent time with children at Dallas Bethlehem Center.
The Rev. Marji Bishir, associate director of the Center for Missional Outreach, was very pleased.
“This year, the Center for Missional Outreach committee wanted to really focus more on education and equipping than just handing folks a paintbrush and calling it a day. This vision came from Evan Jones, who said all the participants should leave knowing more about the causes and solutions to a variety of societal ills than when they arrived. We feel this goal was achieved. Not only did they know more, they also are aware of how they can engage in those solutions. We look forward to doing this again in 2012.”
