FROGs help U.S. troops

8/24/2007

First UMC, Rowlett, FROG camp participants pack boxes to send to U.S. troops in Iraq.

During the summer, First UMC, Rowlett, held two major children's events - FROG Camp and VBS.

FROG (Fully Rely On God) Camp is a two-day a week day camp for children, ages six months through fourth grade. VBS (Vacation Bible School) is the traditional week-long experience where children came together to sing, do crafts and learn different ways to worship and praise God.

Both FROG and VBS included donations for local food pantries and for U.S. troops in Iraq.

Items collected for the soldiers included; peanut butter crackers, trail mix, individual juice drinks, hard candy, and other snacks. The Rowlett Quilt Guild made "neck coolies" for the soldiers to help keep them cool in the hot climate.
