Whitewright UMC to mark 125th Celebration NTC
Historic First UMC First UMC, Whitewright, "125th anniversary celebration planned May 20.
On Heritage Sunday, May 20, the First UMC, Whitewright, will have a "125 Celebration" commemorating 125 years of history and service in the Whitewright community.
A 10:50 a.m. Sunday worship service, under the leadership of Pastor Doyle Henderson, will welcome Rev. Jim Dorff, NTC Provost as the guest speaker.
Immediately following Sunday worship, church members will bury a time capsule near the church's Historical Marker, 125 balloons will be released by the youth of the church, and a festive lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Present members, former members, former pastors, and special guests are invited to come together and share fellowship, music, activities, historical books, food, and worship as the church joyfully celebrates the Whitewright Church's past 125 years of faithful witness and service to the congregation, to the Whitewright community, and to the glory of God.
Rev. Doyle Henderson, pastor of the Whitewright/Marvin Charge, said, "We are excited about the opportunity to focus in a few hours together upon the rich heritage, the strong presence, and the promising future of our 125 years and counting of continuous service to God and our community of faith. We want this to be an intergenerational experience of celebration that will long be remembered."
