CMI to honor musician Jane Marshall at Meyerson
The Church Music Institute (CMI) will honor longtime United Methodist composer and teacher Jane Marshall of Northaven UMC, Dallas, at the Festival of Church Music scheduled 7:00 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Meyerson Symphony Hall in Dallas. An organ prelude begins at 6:45 p.m.
The event will feature a musical celebration of the Christian faith, led by a 450-voice choir, brass and the Myerson’s Lay Family organ. The congregation will have the opportunity to join the choir in song. Dallas composer Hal Hobson has been commissioned to write an original work for the event. CMI is a not-for profit organization with the mission of being an educational resource for clergy and church musicians and to foster communication leading to more uplifting worship through the use of a variety of music as an integral part of the sharing of God’s word.
