Dallas women gather for 'World Day of Prayer'

World Day of Prayer (WDP) is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year, and who, in many countries, have a continuing relationship in prayer and service.Throughout the entire day, they collectively pray all over the world, beginning with the first sunrise and ending at the last sunset. The prayers follow the sun's path around the globe.

The First UMC, Burkburnett, will celebrate a century of worship during a special centennial service on April 13 at 10:30 a.m.
Bishop Alfred L. Norris will be preacher for the morning. Also participating will be former pastors, Revs. Merwin Turner and Ben Read. The congregation also welcomes its new pastor, Rev. Don Pellikan.

Members of the 2008 First UMC, Terrell, Confirmation Class took advantage of a spring break day for a March 19 trip to visit United Methodist facilities and ministries in the Dallas area.
One of the highlights was the trip to the Ministry Center and the opportunity to meet Bishop Alfred L. Norris in person.

It's called S.E.E.K. Camp. staff, and the Middle School, With all due respect to Spell Check, it is one of the best-kept "seekrets" in the North Texas Conference.
S.E.E.K. stands for "Summer Events for Exceptional Kampers." The program dates back to 1980 when a small group of children, youth and their counselors participated in the first camping experience for young people who are physically, emotionally or mentally challenged.

Rev. Georjean Blanton, director of Path-Ways Ministries, will present the second Bev Middlebrook Series seminar, "Celebrating This Season of Your Life," from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. April 18 at the First UMC, Richardson, in the First Center, 515 Custer Road.

Torrential rain failed to daunt either the lecturer or the audience on opening day of the March 18-20 annual Babs & Arch Owen Holy Week Lecture Series at Lovers Lane UMC, Dallas.
Lecturer Dr. Ted A. Campbell made the most of it, saying with a grin, "On the way here I could imagine [wife] Dale as my whole congregation." Not to worry.
