Commission on the Status and Role of Women - COSROW

The mission of the Commission on the Status and Role of Women is to challenge The United Methodist Church at all levels to work for full and equal participation of women in the total life of the denomination, including ordination of women, equal access to policy-making and recognition that Jesus Christ calls men and women alike to salvation, liberation, discipleship and service in church and society.

The North Texas Conference Commission on the Status and Role of Women, in harmony with with the responsibilities and goals of the general commission has established these guidlines:

to be informed about the status and role of all women in the total life of the conference;

to initiate cooperation with United Methodist Women at all levels in order to achieve full participation of women in the decision making structure;

to develop way to inform and sensitize the leadershipat with all levels of the conference on issues that affest women, which shall be projected into and through all districts within the conference by the commission;

to focus on major priorities of issues related to women, which may include sexual harassment policies and procedures, and to enlist the support of the bishop, cabinet, and conference staff in policies, plans, and practices related to those priorities.

to advise the general commission about the progress and effectiveness of efforts to achieve full participation of women in the life of the Church;

to participate in the connectional programs and plans initiated or recommneded by the general commission and to utlize their resources as needed.
