Through The Ministry
of Church and Society Work
Local church leaders in this area lead their church in social issues. Primarily they keep their ministry team, pastor, and church council aware of study and action needs and opportunities related to their community, the state of Texas, and U.S. and international issues. When issues arise they educate the members of their congregation about those issues (sometimes known as "consciousness raising") by using study groups, guest speakers, video programs, and more.
The Cokesbury Bookstore has a small inexpensive booklet available for purchase to help the local church leader in this ministry area. It is part of the Guidelines for Leading Your Congregation Series. The phone number for Cokesbury is 1-800-672-1789 or go to www.cokesbury.com.
Visit your conference resource center in the new Ministry Center located in Plano at 500 Maplelawn Ct in Plano. There are many helpful tools for ministry located there, especially reliable and effective video resources.
The following guest speakers are available to come speak to your church about social issues.
