Disability Concerns

Check out the new Disability Awareness Video showing why ministry with persons with disabilities is of vital importance and ways churches are already participating in this ministry.

The Disabilities Concerns Committee
of the North Texas Annual Conference

strives to equip and empower congregations to be of open mind, facilities and spirit such that persons and families impacted by disability can experience the love of God and the accepting fellowship of the church.

Whether struggling with mobility, seeing, hearing, or tantrums and other behavioral issues associated with developmental disorders , individuals and families impacted with disabilities often seek the path of least resistance which is isolation.  It is simply easier not to venture out of one’s house, all the while being in such need of the hope and love offered through Christ and the support and love of a church community.

The 2000 U.S. Census reported ½ million persons with disabilities residing in the counties served by the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. How many persons with disabilities live near your church? How many persons with disabilities do you see in worship on Sunday morning?

You can make a difference.
We can help you.
